Who Are We?
The Heritage Ghanaian Seventh-day Adventist church traces its history to the early days of the Toronto Ghanaian Seventh-day Adventist Church. The rapid growth of the Toronto Ghanaian Seventh-day Adventist Church in the early 2000’s, as a result of God’s grace through evangelistic meetings and visitations, it became necessary to plant a second church
On January 5, 2002, 45 adults and young adults’ members were selected to establish a branch called the Heritage Ghanaian SDA Church in the Jane and Finch location. In two years, membership grew to 83 people and it formally became organized and recognized as a church by the Ontario Conference of the Seventh day Adventist Church.
How it Started
The Toronto Heritage Ghanaian Seventh Day Adventist Church is an offspring of the Mother Church, Toronto Ghanaian SDA Church which is located at 285 Atwell Drive in Etobicoke, Ontario in Canada. The dream of church planting in other parts of the City was initiated under the spiritual leadership of Pastor Kwabena Donkor with the assistance of Pastor Damson K. Oppong. The team of Elders who assisted immensely in the roll up of this new branch comprised of Elder Samuel Kyeremeh, Elder Samuel Frimpong and Elder Joseph K. Eyiah. This long-cherished dream materialized on January 5, 2002 when 45 selected members began worshipping at the premises of the University Presbyterian Church located at the intersection of Jane and Finch in Toronto. On October 11, 2003, the Church attained its Charter Membership with an incredible number of 85 members.
Prior to obtaining its permanent place of worship at 226 Milvan Drive in North York, Ontario, Heritage Church held worship services in rented facilities namely University Presbyterian Church at the onset and later shifted grounds to the Christian Center Church at 4545 Jane Street also in North York. For years, the Church faced a myriad of challenges in the acquisition and legalization of its permanent place of worship, but the will of the Lord prevailed ultimately when our permanent site was inaugurated in January 2020. The spiritual and financial efforts of both the Mother Church and Heritage led to the fulfillment of this dream.
